The Not: Bio
Tommy Lamont - Vocals and guitar
Tommy Lamont plays guitar and does most of the singing in The Not. His musial influences include 1960s classic rock artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, and The Who. But the biggest influence on him was late 70s punk, especially British bands such as The Clash, The Damned, and The Jam. Tommy was also strongly influenced by many of the bands that The Not played wth such as The Minutemen and DOA.
Tommy prefers Mesa Boogie amps and cheap 60s and 70s Gibson guitars like the SG. But he has been known to strap on a Stratocaster or Rickenbacker. Tommy destroyed several guitars while with The Not, most unintentionally.
A native New Yorker, Tommy now teaches at a boarding school in Massachusetts where he sometimes plays music with his students.
Rob Wallace - Drums and vocals
Rob Wallace plays drums and sings (mostly background vocals) in The Not. Rob was strongly influenced by 1970s British punk, especially its offshoot, ska. A chain smoker and coca cola addict, Rob nonetheless is in great shape because he gets a work out everytime he plays the drums. Rob also enjoys playing guitar and writing the occasional song.
An accomplished skate-boarder, Rob dreams of moving to California and becoming a surfer.
Peter Patino Vazquez - Bass and vocals
Peter Patino Vazquez is the real musician in The Not. He is an outstanding bass player, and is actually a far better guitar player than Tommy Lamont. He also can read music. But because he is much younger than Rob and Tommy, he played bass in The Not.
Peter loves all different kinds of music including classical, flamenco, and jazz. But when he joined The Not at age fifteen he was into heavy metal and hardcore punk.
Peter is bi-lingual and multi-talented. These days he plays mostly World music with his bands mondoSweetie, los Sugar Kings, and ReggaeSon.
